Study Reveals Link Between Vitamin D And Cardiovascular Health

Our skin produces Vitamin D when it absorbs ultraviolet rays from the sun. There are no naturally occurring foods which contain significant amounts of this vitamin. As a result, a large portion of the population suffers from a vitamin D deficiency (some reports estimate nearly half the population). This deficiency is cause for concern not only because of its connection to Rickets, Depression, Osteoporosis, and other conditions but because of a new discovery published  in “Diabetes Care“. In this recent study an association between optimal vitamin D levels and reduced cardiovascular mortality is revealed.
